Train speed fields

Content

Introduction

It describes the type of speed fields and the constraints that exist in the system.

Speed fields

There are four different fields that are dealing with the speed of the train or the designed path:

  • Traction max speed: the max. possible speed of the traction unit
  • Train max speed: the max. possible speed of a train in km/h.
  • Highest planned speed: IM may inform the RA (Responsible applicant) on the highest allowed speed.
  • Planned speed: IM may inform the RA (Responsible applicant) on the speed which was the basis for path construction.
  • Coasting: IM indicates to the RU whether the driver can rely on coasting

Constraints

The system validates the values with some rules and constraints, so the PCS shows an error message if the entered value is lower/higher than the constraints.

  • Train max speed value must be equal to or lower than the lowest traction max speed (of all added locos) // higher than the Highest planned speed
  • The Highest planned speed value must be equal to or lower than the Train max speed // higher than the Planned speed value
  • The Planned speed value must be equal to or lower than the Highest planned speed
  • Generally, the rule is following: lowest Traction Max speed >= Train Max speed >= Highest planned speed >= Planned speed
