Train parameters

Content

Train parameters are defined on the path section level (for each location). Parameters should be interpreted as "valid from" the path section where they were entered. There are two types of parameters:

  • Common train parameters
  • National IM parameters

Common train parameters are defined in the system according to TAF-TSI definition. Please check the summary of those parameters in the referenced documentation. These parameters are valid for each IMs, however, each of them can set an originally optional common parameter to mandatory for their business needs on their network. In case the common parameters are not adequate for an IM for the path request process, it can define national IM parameters. This definition is done always at the beginning of November before the new annual timetable period starts. These parameters are valid only for the creator IM.

When editing parameters, it always starts with the common parameters and then continues with the national IM parameters. Differences between the mandatory and optional parameters are visible on the dossier, both have different color and next mandatory fields are marked with an asterisk (*) symbol. When parameters are entered to one point, they could be easily copied to any other operation point. For the quite often used parameters, it’s possible to create a template. There are two ways of creating templates:

  • Save as new template when completing to fill train parameters
  • Or go to "Administration menu",  "Template manager", "Train parameters

Common parameters are almost the same for passenger and for freight trains, however, there are minor differences. Dangerous goods fields and the container profiles are not visible for passenger trains and in the same way the tilting function selection is not visible for freight trains.
